The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) opened slightly lower on Thursday, July 4, at 6,460.45 points, down by 8.53 or 0.13 percent as of 9:32 AM.
DigiPlus Interactive Corp. (PLUS) led the most active stocks with over P122 million in trades and a 0.77 percent gain to P39.05. SP New Energy Corporation (SPNEC) followed with P8.46 million in value and a 1.60 percent rise to P1.27. Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) saw a decline of 1.25 percent to P27.55 despite P26.9 million in trades.
Top advancers included Acesite (Phils.) Hotel Corporation (ACE), which jumped 11.19 percent to P1.49, followed by Steniel Manufacturing Corporation (STN) and ATN Holdings, Inc. “B” (ATNB), which rose 8.24 percent and 7.41 percent, respectively.
On the losing end, Berjaya Philippines, Inc. (BCOR) plunged 27.93 percent to P5.60. GT Capital Holdings, Inc. (GTCAP) fell by 2.29 percent to P640.00, while PXP Energy Corporation (PXP) dropped 2.21 percent to P2.21.
The Philippine peso also slipped slightly, with the exchange rate at P56.25 to the US dollar as of 9:55 AM.
