Authorities on Tuesday reported that the former police officer, previously dismissed for criticizing top officials regarding the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, was arrested Monday in Quezon City.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed the arrest, saying the individual faces charges of inciting to sedition.

This comes after Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives apprehended Francis Steve Fontillas in Commonwealth, Quezon City, based on an arrest warrant issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.

The court recommended bail of P36,000 for Fontillas, who is also a vlogger.

The case against Fontillas stemmed from a criminal complaint alleging he posted “seditious remarks” about toppling the government and threatened the International Criminal Police Organization while wearing a PNP uniform.

“Well, he has a warrant,” PNP chief Police General Nicolas Torre III said in a media interview. “So, the warrant has to be implemented.”
