Maritime agency chief retiring

Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) administrator Sonia B. Malaluan has formally submitted her intent to retire to the Office of the President, effective 1 October 2026, or as soon as a replacement is designated, the agency announced.
Pending the appointment of a successor or an acting administrator, Malaluan continues to execute her official duties in accordance with existing maritime laws and administrative regulations.
The agency assured maritime stakeholders, industry partners, and the public that routine operations, safety certifications, and regulatory services will proceed without interruption during the leadership transition.
Marina expressed gratitude to Malaluan for her leadership and contributions toward building a competitive domestic and international shipping sector.
