Working student commits suicide

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A 16-year-old working student in Jasaan Misamis committed suicide on Sunday on eve of opening of classes after she learned that she cannot continue her studies for this school year.

Police report said the victim was identified only as Lara, a resident of Barangay Natubo Jasaan town Sunday.

The victim, who was a working student, was supposed to continue her studies as a Grade 12 student in a public school in the said town. She hanged herself inside her room.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.

Investigation showed that the victim was supposed to be enrolled this school year while working as a house helper of a physician.

Family and friends of the victim theorized that she decided to kill herself after learning that she will not be attending her classes for this school year.
