The Department of the Interior and Local Government on Monday warned the public about a fraudulent document bearing the name and signature of Secretary Jonvic Remulla and other senior DILG officials supposedly authorizing a P600-million procurement contract.

The fake document claims the DILG’s Bids and Awards Committee (Cobac) awarded a P600,588,000 contract to EAD4 Hardware Trading, supposedly owned by an Emily Marzan Bayudan, for construction materials on 11 June 2024.

“The public is hereby informed that no such procurement activity has been undertaken, and no contract has been issued or awarded by the DILG or its Cobac. The document in circulation is entirely spurious, counterfeit, and has no legal effect whatsoever,” the DILG said in a statement.

The agency urged the public to verify documents through official DILG channels and said it is working with the authorities to track down and prosecute those behind the scheme.

“The DILG will pursue all available legal remedies and ensure that those involved are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” it added.
