BOTOLAN, Zambales — Authorities have uncovered war materiel from a weapon’s cache at Mt. Piera, Sitio Dingin, Barangay Old Poonbato last Tuesday.
According to the Zambales Police Provincial Office, a former member of the CPP-NPA-NDF voluntarily provided the information on the whereabouts of the cache to the Zambales Provincial Intelligence Unit, Zambales 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Zambales SWAT team.
An improvised explosive device, four pieces of rifle grenades, three hand grenades, various ammunitions, as well as subversive materiel were found at the weapons cache.
The Botolan Municipal Police Station, Zambales Police Explosive and Canine Unit and the 305th Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3, immediately responded to conduct an investigation and ensure the safety of the community.
The authorities also coordinated with the local government of Botolan for the transportation towards the area in Mt. Piera.
