The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) arrested two male suspects allegedly linked to the notorious Commando Gang following a robbery incident along Honorio Lopez Boulevard, Barangay 29, Tondo, Manila early Tuesday morning.
According to the investigation, the suspects — aged 34 and 22, both residents of Tondo — booked a transport-hailing vehicle and declared a hold-up while on board. The victim, a 33-year-old male driver from Caloocan City, was forced to hand over P500 in cash.
While still in transit, the driver managed to stop the vehicle near patrolling NCRPO personnel and quickly called for assistance.
Responding immediately, officers from 10-Charlie Sector 2 and MC-140 mobile crew approached the vehicle. One suspect attempted to flee and, during the chase, pulled out a firearm and pointed it at one of the officers. The weapon, however, malfunctioned, preventing further escalation.
Both suspects were safely subdued and arrested.
They will face charges of robbery and direct assault, which are being prepared for inquest proceedings before the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
