Nearly 90,000 job vacancies will be offered by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) during the Independence Day career fair on Thursday, 12 June.

According to DOLE, a total of 89,408 local and overseas job vacancies will be offered by 968 participating employers across 49 job fair sites nationwide.

Meanwhile, over P264 million in emergency employment and livelihood assistance will be awarded to 37,593 disadvantaged workers.

Nationwide job fairs

Job seekers are encouraged to explore local job opportunities primarily in positions such as sales clerks/assistants, production operators, call center representatives, service crew, and loan officers, offered by 896 participating employers.

In addition to job placements, each job fair site will host a one-stop shop of government services to assist with pre-employment document processing and other auxiliary needs.

Services include career development support, labor regulations consultations, and programs for livelihood, skills training, and entrepreneurship.

A total of P14.41 million under the DOLE Adjustment Measures Program will also be distributed to 253 beneficiaries. Additionally, P14.55 million in stipends will be paid out to 2,926 beneficiaries of the Government Internship Program, and P324,216 in salaries will go to 99 beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students.

To extend government assistance to vulnerable and underserved sectors, DOLE will distribute over P190 million worth of wages for 33,323 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program and over P73 million worth of livelihood assistance to 4,270 beneficiaries under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program in 80 sites nationwide.

The initiatives are under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program, which aims to reduce the vulnerability of marginalized workers through temporary employment and entrepreneurship support.

In observance of the 2025 World Day Against Child Labor, which will coincide with the Independence Day celebration, DOLE Regional Offices have lined up advocacy campaigns and awarding ceremonies to reinforce the government’s commitment to the Philippine Program Against Child Labor, aimed at a child-labor-free Philippines.

One-stop shop

DOLE is also bringing its key services closer to Filipino workers and job seekers by participating in the Pampamahalaang Programa at Serbisyo caravan at Rizal Park, Manila, on 10 to 11 June, organized by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

Among the services to be offered are the renewal of Professional Regulation Commission licenses; application for productivity toolbox assistance; filing of labor concerns through the DOLE Assistance for Request Management System; filing of employees’ compensation claims; registration with PhilJobNet, the government’s job-matching and labor market information portal; livelihood and emergency employment consultations; legal advice; and job fair pre-registration assistance.

Representatives from the Professional Regulation Commission, National Wages and Productivity Commission, National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Employees’ Compensation Commission, Bureau of Local Employment, Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns, the Bureau of Working Conditions, Legal Service, Information and Publication Service, and the DOLE-National Capital Region will assist in the two-day event.

This year’s Independence Day celebration is observed with the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan.”
