President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. urged Filipinos to reflect on the values of sacrifice and devotion as he joined the Muslim community in commemorating Eid’l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, on Friday.
“This sacred day calls us to remember that devotion reveals itself when we are asked to release what we once believed we could never give,” Marcos said in a statement, referencing the story of Prophet Ibrahim.
He emphasized that true sacrifice involves letting go of pride and undertaking more difficult paths for the greater good.
“May this commemoration be a time for all of us to let the Divine take root in our hearts and in our nation — where truth becomes a force that can shape the public good,” he added.
Marcos also acknowledged the Hajj — the fifth pillar of Islam — as a journey of renewal, saying Eid’l Adha marks its culmination.
“Eid’l Adha invites us to embark on a more difficult journey — not towards a place, but towards a state of heart,” the President said.
