11 jailed in Nigeria to get legal aid

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega said Sunday that the government will provide legal assistance to 11 Filipinos imprisoned in Nigeria after they were convicted on cyberterrorism and internet fraud charges.
“Our embassy is working on the case. They will be provided legal assistance,” De Vega said.
The 11 were among 15 Asians whom a court in Lagos sentenced to a year in prison and fined ₦1,000,000 (approximately P75,000).
