A security screening officer at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 returned a wallet, two smartphones and other personal belongings left behind by a passenger on 21 May.
The items were discovered at the final security checkpoint for domestic departures by Officer Bernard Bien Mayang of the Office for Transportation Security (OTS).
According to airport reports, Mayang found the wallet — containing P5,750 in cash, identification cards, two phones, and a box of food — in an airport tray during a routine check.
Mayang promptly alerted his supervisor. A few minutes later, a male passenger who had boarded Cebu Pacific Flight 5J967 to Davao returned to the checkpoint in search of his missing belongings. The items were returned after he presented valid identification.
The passenger thanked Mayang before proceeding to his boarding gate.
OTS officials said the incident reflects the agency’s commitment to integrity among its personnel and its goal of improving public trust in airport security services.
