Security preparations are in full swing for the Palarong Pambansa 2025, set to open on May 24, as the Philippine National Police (PNP) teams up with local government units to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the national sporting event in Ilocos Norte.
In an interview on Tuesday, 20 May, Police Brigadier General Lou Frias Evangelista, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1), confirmed that operational plans are in place, with key coordination meetings held ahead of the arrival of thousands of student-athletes and officials.
"As I’ve heard from my Provincial Director there, Col. Frederick Obar, they’ve already conducted a series of meetings relative to this event. Malaking event ito — Palarong Pambansa. It covers the whole nation,” Evangelista said.
He emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation, especially with the provincial government, which plays a lead role in local organizing efforts.
“We already have a plan on how to deal with the security coverage of all Palarong Pambansa activities,” he added.
To ensure a strong presence, the PNP will draw additional personnel from Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan to augment forces already stationed in Ilocos Norte. These units will be deployed across key areas including sports venues, billeting quarters, and transport terminals.
“We’re gathering personnel from neighboring provinces to help secure facilities and protect our delegates coming from all over the country,” Evangelista said.
Palarong Pambansa 2025 marks a milestone for Ilocos Norte as it hosts the week-long celebration of athletic excellence, youth sportsmanship, and national unity.
