Two officers from the Quezon City Police District were arrested early Tuesday after allegedly causing a disturbance while intoxicated at a bar in Barangay Holy Spirit, authorities said.
The two suspects—a 33-year-old corporal and a 29-year-old patrolman assigned to the Warrant Section of Police Station 14—entered the KTV bar around 2:30 a.m. on May 14, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, ordered multiple bottles of beer, and began to create disturbances and damaged some property of the bar, prompting the bar owner to call for assistance.
The swift response from Police Station 14 led to their arrest.
QCPD, in a statement, strongly condemned the misconduct of the two policemen and assured that the suspects will face sanctions as they are already under custody.
"The QCPD reiterates its firm stance, with the guidance and directive of NCRPO Regional Director, PMGEN Anthony A. Aberin, that misconduct, abuse of authority, and any behavior unbecoming of a police officer will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Should the allegations be proven true, both criminal and administrative sanctions will be pursued without delay," the QCPD statement read.
"The QCPD stands resolute in its commitment to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and professionalism. We assure the public that we will take decisive action to maintain the trust entrusted to us, ensuring full accountability and zero tolerance for misconduct within our ranks," it added.
Metro Manila police chief P/Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said NCRPO had long clearly emphasized its policy—there is no second chance for police officers who violate the law.
“As members of the PNP, we adhere to a higher standard of propriety and professionalism. NCRPO’s actions against police misconduct will always be swift, decisive, and uncompromising.
After finding probable cause for their violations, they were placed in custody and will be charged criminally and administratively,” Aberin said.
