The late Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim’s most trusted officials — and his favorite grandson — have publicly endorsed the reelection bid of Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna.

Ric de Guzman, who served as Lim’s chief of staff, public information officer, and closest confidant, expressed full support for Lacuna, citing her unblemished record and integrity in public service. He said true-blue Lim supporters share his sentiments.

Echoing this support was former City Administrator Jay Marzan, who emphasized that what Manila needs is a decent and intelligent mayor — someone who won’t burden the city with debt.

“Si Mayora, diretso sa tao ‘yung tulong. ‘Yung programa niya, naka-focus para mas umasenso ang buhay ng bawat Manileño,” Marzan said.

As a long-time resident of Sampaloc, De Guzman noted that he has witnessed firsthand the positive impact of Lacuna’s governance. He praised her for doubling senior citizens' monthly allowances and for personally visiting bedridden elderly residents to check on their well-being and provide assistance.

He also lauded Lacuna’s healthcare-first leadership, especially during the pandemic.

De Guzman said that Lacuna has brought back many of Lim’s former department heads, showing her confidence in their capabilities and respect for Lim’s choices.

He pointed out that Councilor Niño dela Cruz — Lim’s grandson — remains a staunch ally of Lacuna, likely for the same reasons. Dela Cruz, who is running for reelection in the first district under Lacuna’s slate, said: "Pinili ko po si Mayor Honey kasi mabuti po ang asal niya, malinis ang hangarin para tumulong. Tapat at totoo talaga siya."

Marzan, who also hails from Sampaloc, said that when his brother Bong, a barangay chairman, decided to run for councilor, they both agreed he should join Lacuna’s team. They believe she stands out in both character and leadership.

Both De Guzman and Marzan concluded that, much like the late Mayor Lim, Lacuna remains diligent in handling city funds, ensuring they are used responsibly for the benefit of the people.
