The memory of the late National Artist Nora Aunor continues to shine — this time with a posthumous honor that further cements her irreplaceable legacy in Philippine arts and culture.

In a moving ceremony at Malacañang, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., with First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos by his side, conferred the Presidential Medal of Merit to the Superstar — an honor reserved for Filipinos who have rendered distinguished service to the nation.

Among the many who celebrated this moment was Aunor’s daughter, actress Lotlot de Leon, who took to social media to express her heartfelt gratitude and reverence for her mother’s enduring impact.

“Yesterday, our beloved National Artist, our mother, Ms. Nora Aunor, was once again given a prestigious honor,” Lotlot wrote. “Our hearts are full.”

But for Lotlot, the recognition wasn’t just about the medal — it was about what it represents. “This recognition is more than an award — it is a powerful affirmation of the lasting legacy our mom has left behind,” she shared.

Indeed, Nora Aunor’s life and career were far more than the sum of her films, songs, or accolades. Her artistry bridged classes and generations, giving voice to the voiceless and becoming a mirror of the Filipino soul. From her humble beginnings to becoming Ina ng Sining ng Industriya ng Pilipino, she redefined what it meant to be a cultural icon.

“She was not just an actress or a singer — she was, and will always be, a symbol of excellence, resilience, and national pride,” Lotlot emphasized.

Lotlot also extended her family’s appreciation to the President and First Lady for recognizing the Superstar’s legacy. “Their continued support for the arts and recognition of our mother’s extraordinary contributions ensure that her legacy will live on and inspire generations to come.”

With emotion pouring through her message, Lotlot ended with a tribute that resonated with countless fans who still mourn the loss of a true legend:

“Mommy, our Superstar, our National Artist — thank you for everything. This honor is yet another shining jewel in the crown of your lifelong dedication to Philippine arts and culture.”

As the nation continues to celebrate the life of Nora Aunor, Lotlot’s words serve as both a thank you and a call to remember: "Mabuhay ang alaala ni Nora Aunor. Mabuhay ang sining at kulturang Pilipino."
