Aurora cops upper bracket spot with win over Team Falcons

MPL fan-favorite Aurora clinched the last upper bracket spot in the MPL Season 15 Playoffs after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Team Falcons PH on the final day of the regular season, Sunday evening at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

Renejay, Demonkite, Domeng, Yue, and Edward concluded their regular season campaign in second place, just behind top seed Team Liquid PH. As an upper bracket team, Aurora will avoid the do-or-die elimination matches on the opening day of the Playoffs.

"To me, it is highly significant [to get the upper bracket spot] because all of our hard work was a waste if we end up in the lower bracket. This is important to us, which is why we gave our best in this game," said Aurora team captain Renejay after the match.

Securing the upper bracket slot also allows Aurora more preparation time, as four of the six playoff teams will battle it out on Day 1. Aurora will make their first Playoffs appearance on Day 2, where they will face the winner between defending MPL champion ONIC PH and Twisted Minds.
