The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has ordered the relief of two Manila Police District (MPD) station commanders for alleged negligence and command responsibility following the recent killing of a former Sampaloc barangay chairman who was also a nominee for the Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas Partylist.
NCRPO chief Police Brigadier General Anthony Azerin ordered the administrative relief of Police Lieutenant Colonels Jason Manatad Aguilon and Lazarito Fabros, according to initial reports.
Aguilon was the chief of MPD Station 10 in Pandacan, while Fabros was the station commander of MPD Station 14.
Newly installed MPD Chief Police Brigadier General Benigno Guzman has yet to confirm the relief order.
Guzman recently assumed command of the MPD, replacing Police Brigadier General Thomas Ibay, who was designated officer-in-charge of the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR). Guzman previously served as the executive assistant at the Office of the Chief PNP.
According to gathered information, Aguilon’s relief stemmed from a complaint by a “striker” of the Penafrancia PNP alleging that Aguilon displayed an armalite rifle to threaten the complainant. The complaint reportedly reached the NCRPO director’s office.
Fabros’ relief is reportedly connected to the killing of Lennin Bacud, a nominee of the Ang Bumbero Party-list and former Sampaloc chairman.
A Quezon City police officer was also injured in a shootout with the assailants on Monday afternoon.
