University of Perpetual Help System Dalta aims to regain its winning touch when it battles Mapua University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 100 women’s volleyball tournament today at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.

Action starts at 12 p.m. following the 9:30 a.m. encounter between Perpetual and Mapua in the men’s division.

The Lady Altas are coming off a 25-27, 23-25, 21-25 loss to Letran College and they are determined to get to the win column not just to arrest a three-game slide but also to boost their 7-4 record heading into the crucial stretch of the eliminations.

The Lady Cardinals, on the other hand, were shocked by Lyceum of the Philippines University in a thrilling five-set battle, 25-16, 25-15, 27-29, 23-25, 15-10, making their collision very crucial in boosting their morale.

Rieta will be banking on veterans Shaila Omipon, Winnie Bedana, Camille Bustamante, Pauline Reyes, Bea Uy, setter Fianne Ariola, liberos Marina Andal and Jodi Lozano as well as rookies Jemalyn Menor, Geraldine Palacio and Monica Mariano in getting back on winning track.

Meanwhile, the five-peat seeking Altas are gunning for their third straight win after posting a 25-20, 25-17, 14-25, 20-25, 15-9 victory over Letran.

Perpetual coach Macky Cariño, who served as assistant to the late Sammy Acaylar during the school’s glory years, is expected to lean on team captain Jeff Marapoc and Kobe Tabuga as well as KC Andrade, Hezron Manaloto, James Pascua, Klint Mateo, Dexter Arrozado, Kirth Rosos, setter John Lituania and rookie liberos Joseph Abrencillo and Christian Galila.
