University of Perpetual Help System Dalta hammered a thrilling 25-15, 25-16, 22-25, 21-25 & 15-9 over Lyceum of the Philippines University to stay perfect in Season 100 National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s volleyball tournament yesterday at the San Beda University gym in Manila.

The Altas dominated the first two sets but faltered in the second and third before hanging tough in the decider to seal their third straight victory.

Jeff Marapoc shone with 24 points and 12 excellent receptions while Kobe Brian Tabuga provided support, finishing with 22 markers for the Las Piñas-based squad that is dedicating its season for its late mentor Sammy Acaylar.

Rookie Hezron Manoloto contributed 12 points with two blocks while Klint Mateo did an excellent job in the playing department with 18 excellent sets.

In the women’s division, the Lady Altas made short work of the Lady Pirates, 25-22, 25-21, 25-17.

Middle blocker Winnie Bedan̈a was a force at the net with 15 attacks and two blocks for a 17-point effort while Shaila Omipon contributed 10 points.

Fifi Ariola recorded 21 excellent sets and Marian Andal had nine digs and four excellent receptions to underscore the Lady Altas’ well-balanced performance that led to their impressive victory.

Johna Dolorito posted 18 pts and two excellent receptions for the Lady Pirates, who suffered their second in three matches.
