Two scrap collectors were arrested in Barangay Marulas, Valenzuela City, after allegedly punching and striking a store owner with a hammer last Thursday.
According to information provided to Valenzuela City Police Chief Colonel Nixon Cayaban, the suspects were identified as alias “Castro” and alias “Boduso.”
The victim, identified only by his alias “Romy,” a store owner, reportedly confronted the two scrap collectors for burning trash materials near his store, fearing the fire could spread.
“When the victim headed back, Boduso punched him in his back, while Castro grabbed a hammer and smashed it in the left area of his head,” local police said in a statement.
Police officers from the Valenzuela City Police Substation 6 responded to the scene and apprehended the suspects, recovering the weapons allegedly used in the attack.
The two scrap collectors are facing attempted murder charges. The victim was treated at Valenzuela Medical Center and has since been discharged.
