Police arrested a 45-year-old tricycle driver in Baliwag, Bulacan, on Thursday in connection with the fatal stabbing of his live-in partner, whose body was found dumped in garbage in Manila.
The suspect was identified as Reynaldo Dela Cruz, a tricycle driver residing at Barangay 61 in Tondo, Manila. He is currently detained at the Manila Police District (MPD) Homicide Section.
Police said Dela Cruz, who had been in a six-month relationship with the victim identified as “Jen,” allegedly killed her due to suspicions of infidelity.
According to investigator P/Msg. Arvy Macarasig of the MPD-Homicide Section, the victim’s body was discovered around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday among garbage in front of the Bagong Tondo Wellness Center on Juan Luna Street.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the chest and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital
CCTV footage reportedly showed the suspect driving his tricycle against traffic on Juan Luna Street, where police believe he dumped the body. The footage allowed for the suspect’s identification.
Dela Cruz was apprehended in Bulacan along with his 2-year-old child. Barangay records indicate the suspect had a history of being a troublemaker and had previous jail stints
Murder charges are expected to be filed against Dela Cruz at the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
