Pasig City is gearing up to be a model for plastic waste management and circular economy implementation by tapping sustainability partners to support its journey to become ready for the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law.
Supporting the initiative are ASM Global, EvergreenLabs, and the Swedish Embassy, which will all work to help Pasig City comply with the EPR Act of 2022 by enhancing plastic waste traceability and strengthening recycling systems for its plastic waste management program.
Simply put, the Pasig City government will implement a technology-driven approach to diverting and recycling plastic waste.
The technology is ASM Global’s digital platform, Inclusiv, which efficiently monitors plastic waste flows, track producers’ compliance and measure the impact of recovery efforts.
EvergreenLabs, an expert in circular economy solutions, will have the role of enhancing plastic waste collection networks, improving recycling facilities, and integrating informal waste collectors into the formal waste management system. This collaboration ensures that plastic waste is efficiently recovered and reprocessed into valuable secondary materials, reducing landfill dependency and environmental pollution.
Meanwhile, the Swedish Embassy will share Sweden’s leadership in circular economy policies and sustainable waste management, bringing valuable international expertise and best practices to support Pasig City’s EPR efforts.
Pasig City’s proactive approach to EPR readiness serves as a model for other local government units across the Philippines.

This partnership ensures that the city is not only complying with the EPR law but also building a sustainable waste management system that benefits businesses, communities and the environment,” Surbhi Jore, CEO of ASM Global, said.
