Pasig mayoralty candidate Sarah Discaya vows to prioritize infrastructure projects that directly address the needs of Pasigueños, focusing on health, education, and housing if elected.

“If I am fortunate enough to become mayor, I will prioritize the construction of the Ospital ng Pasig and the University of Pasig, housing in Pasig before the so-called Smart City Hall. More Pasigueños will benefit from a university and hospital than from a city hall,” Discaya says.

Discaya, fondly called “Ate Sarah” by supporters, says her administration prioritizes the construction of a modern, fully equipped public hospital and an 11-storey university building.

She laments that Pasig still lacks a fully equipped hospital that can provide 100 percent free health services to residents. She also points out that many of the city’s college students choose to study in other towns due to the lack of a competitive public higher education institution in Pasig.

“Where are the fruits of good governance? I am not accusing anyone of being corrupt. I’m simply saying that if the leadership was truly good and free from corruption, then where are the big-ticket projects for Pasig City? Where are the modern hospital, university, and housing projects?” she asks.

“The mayor had six years of echoing good governance, yet not a single infrastructure project addressing these three key priorities has been established,” she adds.

Discaya says she intends to fulfill her campaign promises and avoid making commitments just to win votes.

“Let’s raise the standard of campaigning. Let’s focus on programs and how one can be held accountable for broken promises,” she says.

She also emphasizes the importance of transparency and access to information for city residents.

“I will ensure full transparency in the bidding of projects and strengthen the freedom of information regarding the city’s spending, so Pasigueños can be assured that their money is going to the right projects,” she says.
