Discussions are in progress on the renovation of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) as the country gears up to host the ASEAN Summit in 2026.

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Thursday said the officials concerned had a “productive meeting” on the upgrades to the iconic venue.

“Looking forward to welcoming our ASEAN neighbors with the grace, hospitality, and warmth that we Filipinos are known for,” Mrs. Marcos said.

The PICC, a landmark venue for international events, has hosted major global and regional gatherings since its inauguration in 1976.

The upgrades are aimed at enhancing its facilities to accommodate high-level meetings and ensure a seamless experience for the delegates.

The Philippines last hosted an ASEAN Summit in 2017, with discussions focused on regional security, economic cooperation and socio-cultural development.
