Senator Christopher “Bong” Go brought his 'malasakit at serbisyo' campaign to Dasmariñas City, Cavite, on Monday, 31 March, with a motorcade alongside fellow senatorial candidates. Go expressed gratitude for the warm reception and vowed to enhance programs focused on poverty alleviation, especially in health, education, and youth development.
Go also addressed ongoing issues with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), citing his previous Senate inquiries that led to reforms and the fulfillment of overdue health emergency allowances. He criticized PhilHealth for its handling of funds while patients struggled to pay for hospital care and highlighted reforms he has pushed for, including the removal of the 45-day cap on annual coverage and expanded emergency care benefits.
The senator also championed the establishment of Malasakit Centers, Super Health Centers, and Regional Specialty Centers to provide accessible healthcare. As the principal author of the Malasakit Centers Act, Go noted that over 167 centers are operational across the country, benefiting millions of Filipinos.
In addition to his health initiatives, Go emphasized his support for education, including the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, and sports, aiming to engage youth in activities that promote health and steer them away from illegal drugs. He also pushed for the expansion of the Tertiary Education Subsidy and other student-focused legislation.
As the chair of the Senate Committee on Sports, Go celebrated the country’s first Olympic gold medal win and spearheaded the establishment of the National Academy of Sports. He continues to advocate for policies that empower the youth and promote their participation in nation-building.
“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon, serbisyo ‘yan kay Allah (We will continue to serve you because it is my habit to serve, and I believe that serving the people is serving the Lord, serving Allah),” Go said.
