The Department of Tourism recently awarded star rating certificates to two prominent hotels in the Bicol region—The Oriental Legazpi and The Proxy by The Oriental Albay, both located in Legazpi City.
After rigorous mid-year inspections by tourism quality advisers and third-party auditors, The Oriental Legazpi, the flagship of the LKY Group of Companies, retained its four-star rating.
The hotel, a 6-story property with 104 rooms and suites, is the highest-ranked in its category in Bicol. It features a 1,500-pax grand ballroom, event facilities, a spa, an infinity pool, and the St. Peregrine Chapel. Recently reopened following a grand makeover, the hotel sits atop Taysan Hill, offering scenic views of the city.
Meanwhile, Proxy by The Oriental Albay, a sub-brand of the Filipino hospitality chain, was upgraded to three-star status. Located near downtown Legazpi, the 76-room boutique hotel includes two restaurants, a 200-pax theater, a convention center, a pool, and the Magayon Garden.
The DOT’s star rating system aligns with international practices and reflects each hotel’s commitment to quality service and guest satisfaction. The system is aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the hospitality industry in line with UN World Tourism Organization regulations.
In response to Typhoon Kristine, The Oriental Legazpi is offering The Oriental Banquet, a Sunday buffet dinner where part of the proceeds will support relief efforts in Albay. Additionally, the hotel group announced complimentary stays for Paris Olympics medalists across its properties, including The Oriental Legazpi and others.
The hotel chain also adopted a pet-friendly policy for all its properties and encourages responsible pet ownership through its LKY Foundation, which supports community initiatives such as pet adoption.
