
Following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck the Southeast Asian region on Friday afternoon, the Philippine embassy in Yangon, Myanmar, issued an official advisory urging Filipinos in the country to remain calm and monitor updates regarding the earthquake.
"A strong earthquake was recorded in Myanmar (with the epicenter approximately 620 km. from Yangon) at around 12:50 PM Myanmar time. The embassy advises Filipinos in Myanmar to remain calm and monitor updates from credible and verifiable sources," the advisory stated.
The embassy also provided an emergency contact line for Filipinos in need of assistance related to the earthquake.
"For emergencies, the Embassy can be reached through the Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) hotline (+95 998 521 0991) or via the official Philippine Embassy in Myanmar Facebook Messenger," the statement read. "We hope everyone stays safe and well."
Meanwhile, the Philippine embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, also released an official advisory on social media, confirming that no Filipino casualties had been reported from the earthquake.
"As of this time, there have been no reports of Filipinos harmed or affected by the earthquake," the embassy in Bangkok confirmed.
In addition, the embassy advised Filipinos in Thailand to remain calm and vigilant while monitoring updates from credible and verifiable sources.
