Circuit Makati continues to strengthen its position as a cultural hub with the launch of its second annual International Dance Day (IDD) Fest, set to run from 23 to 27 April 2025, at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater. The weeklong festival will celebrate dance across all genres, from classical ballet to street dance and paradance, with performances from over 1,200 local and international artists.
"International Dance Day is more than just a celebration of movement—it's a powerful reminder of how dance connects us all, transcending boundaries and uniting us through shared expression. By showcasing the artistry of Filipino dancers alongside global performers, we highlight dance as a universal language that connects cultures. We’re proud to offer a platform where they can shine together, demonstrating the unifying power of movement on a global stage," said Christopher Mohnani, Managing Director, Samsung Performing Arts Theater and Circuit Makati Arts and Culture Manager.
The festival will open on 23 April 2025, with a gala featuring the UK’s Company Wayne McGregor and the Philippine premiere of Autobiography (v105), a groundbreaking dance inspired by McGregor's genetic code. McGregor will also host a workshop for local dancers.
In addition to the star-studded performances, the festival will focus on inclusivity, featuring paradance — a discipline that integrates dancers with disabilities — as a central theme. A portion of the gala proceeds will benefit the Artists Welfare Project Inc.'s HMO fund, supporting dancers’ healthcare needs.
The festival will also feature a series of themed galas, including a Folk and Traditional Dance Gala on 24 April, a Street Dance Gala on 25 April, a Ballet Gala on 26 April, and a Contemporary Dance Gala on 27 April. These performances will showcase the rich diversity of Filipino and international dance.
