JOLO, Sulu — The military, in collaboration with the provincial government of Sulu, formally launched the “Peace and Development Buong Bansa Mapayapa” (PDBBM) program in the province aimed to promote peace, human development, and create socio-economic opportunities for the people of Sulu.
Gov. Abdusakur M. Tan said yesterday that the PDBBM program, in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Region 9, was formally launched at Sumadja Hall, Sulu Area Coordinating Center in Patikul, Sulu, on Tuesday last week.
Tan said the program also aims to establish a unified and sustainable approach to peacebuilding and resilience in Sulu by integrating social, economic, and environmental initiatives that will uplift communities and pave the way for long-term development in the province.
11th Infantry (Alakdan) Assistant Division Commander for Administration and Operations Brig. Gen. Christopher C. Tampus expressed strong support for the initiative, the PDBBM program.
“On behalf of my Commander, Maj. Gen. Leonardo I. Peña, we fully welcome and support the DSWD’s Peace and Development Buong Bansa Mapayapa program,” Tampus said.
“We look forward to addressing the needs, gaps and challenges faced by communities in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas and other vulnerable sectors,” he added.
According to Tan, the event opened with a comprehensive orientation on the PDBBM program, followed by an open forum where participants engaged in meaningful discussions on ongoing development initiatives in the region.
