Malacañang Palace on Sunday called on vloggers and social media users who claimed a photo of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos had been edited or photoshopped to provide evidence supporting their allegations.

"It is better to challenge these fake news vloggers/bloggers to show their own verified evidence that will counter that photo," Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a statement.

The photo, posted on the First Lady's social media pages on Saturday, showed Mrs. Marcos attending a regular meeting with the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) at Pangarap Clubhouse in Malacañang Park on Friday.

Castro also called out social media users who criticized the photo.

"Those who usually criticize are those who are not privy to any meeting. What can we expect from those who know nothing?" she said. "It's easy to pretend as if they know everything."

This incident marks the latest in a series of fake news attacks targeting the First Lady.

Recently, reports claimed Mrs. Marcos had been detained at an airport in the United States.

Since then, Malacañang has clarified that the First Lady was not detained in the US and have resumed her duties and attended engagements.

"There is no truth that the First Lady was held by any law enforcers while in Los Angeles or and in any other place," Castro said in a statement issued 13 March 2025.

Araneta-Marcos visited the US for a working trip, where she took part in the Meeting of the Minds and the Manila International Film Festival.

She visited Miami, Florida, and Los Angeles, California, from 5 to 8 March.
