In observance of the 128th founding anniversary of the Philippine Army, Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday urged the public to reflect on the lives and sacrifices of fallen soldiers who shaped the nation’s history.
“Today, we honor an institution deeply embedded in our nation’s legacy. For generations, the courageous men and women of the Philippine Army have shown that the Filipino fighting spirit burns brightly in each of us — a flame that signifies we are a nation of patriots,” Duterte said in a statement.
She emphasized the enduring legacy of fallen soldiers, saying, “Let us remember our fallen heroes. While their names may be engraved in stone, their spirits continue to live on through the nation they helped build with their sacrifice, bravery and unwavering courage.”
Vice President Duterte further called on Filipinos to express gratitude to veterans, acknowledging their role in inspiring new generations of Filipinos to serve their country. “They died so we could live in peace,” she said.
Duterte expressed heartfelt thanks to all members of the Philippine Army, stating, “We are grateful to our soldiers and to everyone serving with the Philippine Army, whose integrity, honor, and undying commitment continue to uphold our nation’s values.”
She concluded her remarks with a message of encouragement: “May your ranks always be filled with courage, your missions be guided by honor, and your hearts strengthened by the knowledge that your service inspires future generations of Filipinos.”
