Former actress Deborah Sun shared the good with her friends and followers through a Facebook post, announcing that she is now cancer-free.

"In less than a year, after seven months of medication and treatment, I am now cancer-free," she wrote, expressing her gratitude with a heartfelt, "Thank you, Lord!!"

In August 2024, Deborah Sun revealed in an interview with Julius Babao that she had been diagnosed with stage-two colon cancer.

"Colon cancer, stage two lang naman. Naagapan—thank you, Lord," she said in a vlog interview with Babao on 22 August. The vlog also featured her sister, actress Jobelle Salvador.

At that time, she had already begun receiving financial assistance from friends in the showbiz industry and a few politicians to help with her treatment.

“‘Yun pa lang na matibay ka sa pagsubok na binigay sa’yo, blessing na ‘yon (Just the fact that you are strong in the trials given to you, that's already a blessing),” she shared. “Sabi nila para akong walang sakit, e yakang-yaka ko ‘to e. Ibinigay sa akin ni Lord ito kasi alam niyang kaya ko—kaya binigay niya itong pagsubok na ito (They say it’s like I don’t have any illness, but I can totally handle this. God gave this to me because He knows I can do it—that’s why He gave me this challenge).”

When asked about her initial reaction to the diagnosis, Deborah admitted feeling immense fear, especially for her children.

“Natakot talaga ako kasi naisip ko agad ‘yung mga anak ko (I was really scared because I immediately thought of my children),” she said emotionally, mentioning that one of her children suffers from a mental health condition.

During her illness, Deborah was cast in ABS-CBN’s primetime series Batang Quiapo, where she made her last television appearance.

As of this writing, the actress is taking a break from show business and focusing on her new role as a celebrity streamer and online seller.
