About 92 percent of the official ballots for the 12 May elections have been printed, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Comelec Chairperson George Garcia told reporters on Tuesday that approximately 61 to 62 million ballots had been printed as of 11 March.

"We only need to print about six million more," Garcia said.

Meanwhile, around 36 to 37 million ballots have already been verified.

"After printing the ballots, we use our personnel to verify them," Garcia explained, adding that they plan to increase the staff to expedite the verification process.

Garcia said Comelec aims to verify 1.2 million ballots daily.

The Comelec has enlisted the help of the National Printing Office and South Korean election firm Miru Systems to meet the 14 April ballot printing deadline.
