In a candid appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda 4 March, content creator Bianca Gonzalez shared her experiences navigating the often turbulent world of online commentary. As a pioneer in the digital space, having started blogging back in 2003, she’s seen the evolution of online interaction firsthand.

During the interview, Boy Abunda, the “King of Talk,” acknowledged Bianca’s status as one of the original (OG) digital creators. They discussed the significant changes in content creation, particularly how it has transformed into a legitimate business. However, with this growth comes the inevitable presence of online bashers, a phenomenon less prevalent in the early days of the internet.

“Now, I read tweets. I read everything. I don’t know why I do it to myself. I read everything, I don’t block,” Bianca revealed.

She explained that she aims to maintain a balanced perspective by reading both positive and negative comments. She acknowledges that sometimes, even negative comments can contain valid points. However, she also recognizes that “there are also those who are simply angry.”

Boy Abunda inquired about the “intense negativity” that can arise from such interactions. Bianca admitted that while she reads the comments, she rarely responds. However, there are exceptions.

“Actually, the last one I responded to was related to ‘Pinoy Big Brother.’ We were cursed at! We were cursed at multiple times in the post. So, I simply replied, ‘Just because the story you watched wasn’t in your favor doesn’t give you the right to curse at us,’” Bianca recounted.

She further shared that the netizen subsequently deleted their tweet on X (formerly Twitter) after facing backlash from other users. The individual also apologized after their interaction.

Bianca Gonzalez’s openness about her approach to dealing with online negativity provides valuable insight into the challenges faced by content creators in today’s digital landscape.
