Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Jay Ruiz confirmed on Monday that former Executive Secretary Oscar Orbos is the new Officer-in-Charge of People's Television Network (PTV-4).

Orbos, who also serves as chairperson of PTV-4, will replace Antonio Baltazar “Toby” Nebrida Jr. as general manager.

This announcement comes as the PCO undergoes changes under Ruiz’s new leadership.

However, Ruiz has yet to provide specifics, as the PCO is consulting its legal team regarding Orbos' appointment as OIC-general manager. Orbos has expressed a preference to remain as chairman of PTV-4.

"So, we are just preparing the papers. We're looking at the legalities [of his appointment]. He said 'I won't stay there for long' because former Sec. Oscar Orbos is also aging. He said he would rather stay as chairman instead," Ruiz told reporters.

Meanwhile, Ruiz said changes among the top officials of the PCO will take place within the next two to three weeks.

He emphasized that delivering President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s message remains the priority.

"There are a lot of things to do because it's not just the staffing. Of course, our goal is to bring the programs of [the] government to the people. That's our ultimate goal so we're doing all of this at the same time, aside from the revamp that is happening," he said.

Earlier, Ruiz stated that he would assess each department of the PCO and review their performance.
