Caloocan cops apprehend EDSA armed robbers

Police reported that two suspects were arrested for robbery and illegal possession of firearms following a holdup in Caloocan City.
Initial investigations showed that the victim — identified as “Paulo” — was waiting in his parked L300 vehicle on EDSA southbound lane in Barangay 86 while his wife withdrew cash from a nearby ATM.
Two suspects approached the vehicle at gunpoint and stole Paulo’s iPhone 13 Plus, valued at P58,000, then fled toward Monumento Circle.
Using his wife’s mobile device, Paulo tracked the stolen iPhone and he and his wife immediately approached patrolling officers.
Police Corporal Ronel Magtoto and Police Corporal Mark Tumaliuan arrested the suspects. A body search revealed a .38 caliber firearm with live ammunition and an improvised pen gun with .38 caliber ammunition.
The arrested individuals were identified as “Basti,” a vendor and “Lustana,” both residents of Barangay 95 in Caloocan City.
They will face charges of robbery holdup and violations of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in relation to the Omnibus Election Code. Both suspects are subject to inquest proceedings at the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
