DINALUGAN, Aurora — The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP-7) has approved a P2-million grant for the conservation and management initiative for the Talaytay Protected Landscape in Aurora.
According to a social media post on Wednesday by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Luzon, the said funding will ensure the sustainability of the tenured area of the Talaytay Protected Landscape Occupants Association (TPLOA) Inc., a people’s organization within the TPL.
The implementation is set to begin this year and will continue until 2026, aiming to provide opportunities to improve the socio-economic conditions of beneficiaries and the community through the production of quality local products, and preserve the unique characteristics of the natural resources within the jurisdiction of TPL.
TPLOA pledged to actively manage the TPL, improve effectiveness in its management, and develop alternative livelihoods through the biodiversity-friendly enterprise concept.
Regional Executive director Ralph Pablo noted that the DENR will provide technical support to the project through its field offices in Aurora led by provincial head Alfredo Collado and community chief Jecelyn Baes.
“We will continue to support GEF in promoting innovative and scalable initiatives and fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships to address environmental challenges in key landscapes and seascapes,” Pablo ended.
