On Tuesday, 25 February — the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution — the beloved Filipino mom, Mama Lulu, shared her reflections on growing up under Martial Law for two decades, recalling how there was no freedom of speech, curfews were strictly enforced, and fear gripped everyone
The US-based influencer emphasized the importance of staying informed about politics and being aware of the government’s actions, noting that events like Martial Law are something people "don’t want to happen again."
"Be woke and be enlightened. That’s not a bad word," she said.
The TikTok video has garnered nearly 155k likes, while the Instagram reel has received almost 86k likes, both attracting comments that support her message.
"The effects of what this did to the country, to every stratum of society, and how people still view Philippine politics cannot be understated. And it can happen again," one comment read.
