Mamak Malaysian Kitchen, a Halal-certified restaurant, has officially opened its doors in the Philippines, offering an authentic taste of Malaysian cuisine. The launch event, held on 18 February 2025, was officiated by Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino.
As the first Halal-certified restaurant at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Mamak Malaysian Kitchen promises a diverse selection of Malaysian dishes prepared in strict accordance with Halal standards, ensuring an inclusive dining experience for everyone. During his speech, Ambassador Castelino highlighted the universal appeal of Halal food, saying, “Halal is for all.”
In collaboration with the Malaysian Embassy and the Department of Trade and Industry, Mamak Malaysian Kitchen aims to boost Halal-friendly tourism in the Philippines.
Ambassador Castelino emphasized that the restaurant’s presence represents not only the growth of Halal cuisine in the country but also the strengthening of bilateral ties between the Philippines and Malaysia.
“This is not only about the development of Halal in the Philippines but also to open more job opportunities and improve the relationship between the private sectors of the Philippines and Malaysia,” he said.
