Philippine fashion in the North recently had a monumental event — Cordillera Fashion Expo: DECADA, marking the 10th anniversary of Igorot fashion designer Harvic Dominguez. Held at CAP John Hay Trade and Cultural Center on 19 January, it also marked the launch of the maiden issue of Terraces Magazine, a new lifestyle publication that features the best of the Cordilleras.
The expo was a remarkable gathering of Baguio City and the Cordilleras’ most distinguished personalities, with notable attendees including Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Representative Mark Go, heads of various local agencies and leaders across political and social spectrums.
The highlight of the evening was Dominguez’s 2025 collection, showcasing contemporary tailored pieces with ikat weaves from Narda’s Weaving (a collab partner for this event). The beautifully made garments featured masterfully blended traditional craftsmanship with contemporary designs.
Adding a unique touch to the show were “real models” from the Cordilleras — young professionals, accomplished middle-aged personalities, and esteemed community leaders — emphasizing inclusivity and the diversity of Cordillera fashion, proving that elegance transcends age and background.
The Cordillera Fashion Expo not only marked a decade of excellence for Harvic Dominguez, but also set a new standard for celebrating local talent and culture. It was an evening that reminded everyone of the beauty of tradition, the power of community and the endless possibilities of the region’s fashion and arts scene. The event was directed by Chai Ramos.
Terraces Magazine editor-in-chief Tedd Mabitazan remarked, “As this journey begins, it promises to document and elevate the stories of the Cordilleras, much like this unforgettable event has done for its people.”
