President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. showed off the track record of Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial candidates during the proclamation rally in Laoag, Ilocos Norte.
Marcos lauded each candidate’s achievements in the political arena. Almost all candidates of the coalition have served in the local government and have been members of the House of Representatives.
"Our candidates are not ordinary. They are not like those we see in other parties who had a hard time gathering members. What we are proud of and are fighting for [are candidates] that is proven and has been serving the public for a long time,” Marcos said in Filipino during his speech.
Eight candidates from Alyansa have experience in the Senate, seven have served in the House of Representatives, four are former Cabinet members, three have been governors, and four have served in local government.
The Alyansa consists of 12 candidates. They are former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Senator Pia Cayetano, Senator Lito Lapid, Senator Imee Marcos, former senators Panfilo Lacson, and Manny Pacquiao, former Senate President Tito Sotto, Senator Francis Tolentino, and lawmakers Representative Erwin Tulfo and Representative Camille Villar.
Marcos is aiming for a 12-0 win for the adminstration’s slate in the midterm elections.
He also vowed that once elected, his candidates will focus on moving forward and uplifting the lives of Filipinos.
“You can be sure that when our candidates are elected in the Senate and they begin their work, you can expect that they will not interfere [and] will not participate in matters that we have already left behind and do not want to return to,” Marcos noted.
“This is what we offer, the best Filipinos, the most diligent public servants, who have given their entire lives, not only for their own well-being, but for you, for the people, for the Filipinos, and for the Philippines,” he added.
