Central Visayas sting ops yield P13-M illegal drugs

The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) reported on Sunday that its operatives confiscated illegal drugs valued at P13.4 million within three-day operations.
Authorities reported that the operations were conducted from 27 to 29 January which resulted in the apprehension of 595 drug suspects.
Recovered were 1,969.78 grams of shabu and 25 grams of marijuana.
In a statement, PRO-7 said that the seizures were significant achievements that underscore their strong commitment to addressing the long-standing problem of illegal drug proliferation in the region.
Aside from the illegal drug operations, law enforcers conducted 132 operations against illegal gambling and arrested 225 individuals.
Twenty-seven individuals were taken into custody for illegal possession of unregistered firearms. A total of 101 loose firearms and two explosives were seized.
PRO-7 regional director Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan expressed the agency’s dedication to protecting the community, as shown in their proactive and successful initiatives in recent days against criminals and illegal drugs.
“The statistics capture the essence of our ‘Makabagong Pulis’ peace and order operational formula, which reflects a modern and progressive policing approach. Our goal is to transform PRO-7 into a regional office that the Central Visayas community can trust, respect, and depend upon, where every citizen feels protected and valued,” Maranan said.
