In a significant move toward inclusive and sustainable housing, two major housing projects — Golden Sunrise and South Savannah — are set to provide safe and decent homes for families affected by the Department of Transportation’s (DoTr) North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Extension Project.
Located in Barangay Malainen Bago, Naic, Cavite, these developments reflect the ongoing commitment of the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) and the DoTr to create community-driven, accessible living spaces.
At the groundbreaking ceremony on 30 January, SHFC president and CEO Federico Laxa reaffirmed the corporation’s active role in leading the two housing projects.
“As part of a comprehensive inter-agency effort to address the social displacement of affected families, these housing projects are designed to be highly livable, offering essential utilities and convenient access to key facilities and services,” he said.
DoTr Undersecretary Jeremy Regino, Naic Vice Mayor Junio Dualan and Japan International Cooperation Agency representative Fukui Keisuke voiced their strong support for the projects, emphasizing their importance in addressing the housing needs of displaced families.
Laxa also reiterated SHFC’s unwavering support for the NSCR project, stating, “We at SHFC fully support this government initiative led by the DoTr. I would also like to express my gratitude to the Naic local government, members of the community, DHSUD (Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development), the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Philippine National Railways, the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, and the Commission on Human Rights for their invaluable support.”
