The Quezon City government on Monday urged schools to prioritize student safety in order to foster a safer and more responsible environment, following incidents at a recent event organized by a local college.
The statement came after the Founding Anniversary celebration of Bestlink College of the Philippines in Hermosa, Bataan, which raised concerns about student safety.
“Schools are reminded of their responsibility to exercise due diligence by ensuring meticulous planning and closely coordinating with local government units (LGUs) and other relevant authorities,” the statement read.
Videos shared on social media by students complained about the event, claiming they were forced to walk long distances to the venue and back to the bus terminal late into the night.
The QC government emphasized that adherence to established safety protocols is non-negotiable and must be strictly observed. The LGU also called on all educational institutions to remain steadfast in upholding these standards.
