Former world champion Jerwin Ancajas took out veteran Richie Mepranum with a body shot in the second round in their super-bantamweight clash over the weekend in Iligan City.
Ancajas, who reigned as International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-flyweight king for six years from 2016 until 2022, was dominant from start to finish.
The win should keep him relevant as he is currently rated among in the world’s top 122-lb punchers by the IBF.
The victory boosted Ancajas’ record to 36-4-2 with 24 knockouts while the loss dropped Mepranum’s card to 38-10-1 with 12 knockouts.
His quick demolition of Meparanum earned Ancajas the Philippine title.
