The Commission on Elections (Comelec) plans to begin the reprinting of ballots by Friday or Saturday, after a delay cause by the removal and inclusion of candidates’ names like Francis Leo Marcos.
Comelec Spokesperson Rex Laudiangco confirmed in a radio interview that the reprinting, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed after the Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the Comelec’s decision declaring Marcos a nuisance candidate.
“The Comelec will need to amend the candidates’ database and update the election management system before the printing starts,” Laudiangco explained.
The process requires the generation of 1,667 ballot faces, which will be reviewed by the Comelec’s Law Department for accuracy.
