Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu and a bipartisan delegation from Taiwan arrived at New York’s JFK Airport on Saturday, ahead of US President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on 20 January. According to Taiwan News, over 50 overseas Taiwanese gathered to greet the lawmakers, who are representing Taiwan during their visit to the United States.

Han celebrated the occasion by sharing festive couplets with the crowd for the upcoming Lunar New Year. The delegation stayed overnight in New York before continuing to Washington, D.C., where they are scheduled to participate in a series of events.

Due to cold weather, the inauguration ceremony has been moved indoors, preventing the delegation from attending in person. Despite this, their core itinerary remains unchanged. After the inauguration, they will attend a banquet hosted by the American Veterans Association, meet lawmakers at the Capitol, and join a dinner organized by Taiwan’s representative office to engage with overseas Taiwanese residents.
