The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday disclosed that crime incidents in Metro Manila have plummeted by 23.73 percent since 23 November 2024.
According to acting NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, the decline was attributed to increased police visibility, strategic personnel deployment during major events and a renewed focus on community engagement.
“NCRPO shall consider these initial operational milestones as our motivation to remain committed in performing our mandate of keeping the peace in Metro Manila,” Aberin said in a statement.
From 23 November 2024 to 15 January 2025, only 768 crimes were reported, a significant decrease from the 1,007 incidents recorded during the same period in 2024.
Aberin added that beyond crime reduction, the NCRPO has intensified its law enforcement efforts, arresting 2,166 wanted persons and apprehending 349,465 violators of local ordinances.
The agency’s anti-drug campaign has yielded significant results, with authorities seizing P153.29 million worth of illegal drugs. Meanwhile, anti-gambling operations netted 3,806 individuals and confiscated P928,071.50 in bet money.
“In 2025, the community can be assured that NCRPO’s campaign against illegal drugs will be more relentless, aggressive, and highly-analytical done with utmost regard to the due observance of the Police Operational Procedures and due process of law,” Aberin said.
The NCRPO — which oversees five police districts: Manila Police District, Quezon City Police District, Northern Police District, Southern Police District and Eastern Police District — reported the confiscation of 364 illegal firearms and the arrest of 352 individuals for possessing unregulated weapons.
