It’s official: Kathryn Bernardo and SEVENTEEN’s Kim Mingyu just broke the internet. The Filipino actress, known for her roles in hit dramas like “Got to Believe,” “The Hows of Us,” and “2 Good 2 Be True” and her recent box office hit “Hello, Love, Again” surprised everyone when she hit the follow button on Mingyu’s Instagram account.
Mingyu, a member of the globally renowned K-pop group SEVENTEEN, is no stranger to capturing hearts with tracks like “HOT,” “Don’t Wanna Cry” and “Super.”
But fans are in shock—not because of Mingyu’s fame, but because Kathryn, who rarely follows anyone outside of her close circle and Blackpink, made this unexpected move.
Fans couldn’t contain their excitement. One exclaimed, “Kathryn Bernardo following Kim Mingyu is not in my 2025 bingo card. OMG kinikilig ako help!”
Another pointed out the rarity of this moment, saying, “Huy followed ni Kathryn si Mingyu sa Instagram! If y’all know Kathryn, ang rare nito kasi bukod sa Blackpink, hindi naman into K-pop si teh. GWJSSHAHAHA KINIKILIG AKO.”
Some even highlighted how surprising this was, considering Kathryn’s usual social media preferences. “Kathryn is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) actresses in the PH right now and is not really into K-pop afaik, so the fact that she followed Mingyu is so WILD to me. Mingyu, you are so famous,” one remarked.
Both stars are icons in their own right. Kathryn has been dominating Philippine cinema and TV for over a decade, while Mingyu continues to shine as part of SEVENTEEN, a group that has sold out arenas worldwide.
