During his visit to the Philippines on Tuesday, Japan’s Foreign Minister Mr. Iwaya Takeshi met with Philippine economic affairs ministers for dinner, where they discussed Japan-Philippines economic relations.
The meeting included Hon. Frederick D. Go, Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, and Hon. Manuel Bonoan, Secretary of Public Works and Highways.
Minister Iwaya emphasized that Japan and the Philippines are strategic partners and highlighted the progress of trilateral cooperation between Japan, the U.S., and the Philippines, particularly in light of regional security concerns. He expressed interest in further strengthening the long-standing economic ties between the two nations.
The ministers discussed collaboration on infrastructure resiliency, economic security, trade and investment, and development. They agreed to continue deepening bilateral and trilateral cooperation in these areas.
